One of the most iconic books in the past century is “Think and Grow Rich” by Napolean Hill. If you’re not familiar with it, you might assume it’s just another “get rich quick” book. However, Mr. Hill was actually deeply insightful about human psychology and was also deeply spiritual. One of his key teachings was that you’re more powerful than you think!

Here’s a quote from Chapter 3: “We may become the master of ourselves, and of our environment, because we have the power to influence our own subconscious mind, and through it, to gain the cooperation of Infinite Intelligence.”

We live in an age where social media rules. There are definitely some wonderful heart-centered people sharing helpful tools and ideas. However, the downside is that, if we’re not careful, we can open up our subconscious minds to be easily influenced by people who don’t have our best interests at heart.

So how do we tap into our own power and Infinite Intelligence to positively influence our subconscious mind? How do we tap into our subconscious mind to create more happiness, health and even wealth in our lives?

Learn 3 simple but powerful steps you can start taking today!

Step 1: What’s the best way to have a meaningful conversation with your best friend? In a noisy pub or restaurant where the music is blaring and people are trying to talk over the noise? Or, in a quiet park while going for a stroll? Similarly, the best way to start accessing your subconscious mind is my quieting your conscious mind. There are decades of research showing that if you can calm your mind and get into “alpha mind” meaning you’re generating alpha brain waves, this is an ideal state to be in to access your subconscious. Meditation is a great way to do that.

Step 2: Once you’ve quietened your mind, you can do one of two things: One, is that you can ask it (yourself) questions to which you want answers or are seeking clarity. I find journaling while in a relaxed state is a great way to do this. Here are some sample questions aka journal prompts that you can use:

What makes me happy?

How could I appreciate myself more?

What am I most grateful for?

Who’s the best person or people to help me with problem X?

What lies do I keep telling myself?

When do I trust myself the most?

The other thing that you can do while in alpha mind is to plant what’s known as autosuggestions. These can be in the form of affirmations. However, here’s the thing about affirmations: while they can make a really positive impact, that’s usually only the case if we believe, or a large part of us believes, the statement to be true.

For example, if your affirmation is “I’m going to earn a million dollars this year.” but, you’re in a job earning $50,000 a year with no other sources of revenue, there will be a lot of resistance in your conscious mind that will over ride the affirmation. However, if your affirmation is that “I’m going to net an extra $5,000 this year doing what I love to do.”, chances are, both your conscious and subconscious minds will accept this affirmation. Planting this affirmation in your subconscious mind may also help you to be more open to other opportunities that you hadn’t thought possible before.

Step 3: Make note of any resistant thoughts aka limiting beliefs that come up during your meditation. Thoughts like, “I’m not smart enough to do that” or “It’s not possible to get X” or “I don’t have time to achieve my goals” are noteworthy. Write them down. Then, try using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Tapping to clear them out. If you’re not familiar with EFT, Click Here to learn more. In some cases, you may be able to release these resistant thoughts on your own. However, sometimes limiting belief have a lot of layers and it’s better to work with a mindset coach.
